MiWave Privacy Policy

Effective 8 October 2026

MiWave is a contact-card application provided by Alef Digital Solutions, the registered business name under which we trade. This policy explains how information is handled when you use MiWave.

Your cards stay on your device unless you choose to share them. The current native app has no accounts, cloud sync, advertising, or analytics service.

1. Who is responsible

Alef Digital Solutions is the business responsible for MiWave and this privacy policy. In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Alef Digital Solutions. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected] and identify MiWave in your message.

This policy covers MiWave’s native mobile app and, where stated, its browser version. Visiting our marketing website or submitting a website enquiry is covered by the separate Alef Digital Solutions website Privacy Policy.

2. Information MiWave handles

MiWave processes the details you enter into your own cards or explicitly save from received cards: full name, optional position, company or organisation, optional gender, and up to two email addresses and two phone numbers. It also stores record identifiers, creation and update times, information used to recognise duplicate cards, and your scan-sound preference.

These records are stored in the app’s local database on your device. We do not receive them through an app server. The current native app does not send contact records, camera frames, selected QR images, or app-usage analytics to Alef Digital Solutions. It has no advertising, account registration, or cloud-backup service.

3. How information is used

MiWave uses this information to create and display contact cards, generate QR codes and vCard files, review scanned cards, save contacts when you choose, search and organise records, recognise exact duplicates, and apply your preferences. A successfully scanned card remains a preview until you choose Save.

Incoming contact codes can contain additional fields, such as an address, photo, or social link. Unsupported fields may be identified during review, but MiWave does not save them as part of a contact.

4. Camera, images, and device permissions

Camera access is used to scan contact QR codes and operate the scanner’s flashlight. MiWave does not record photos, videos, or audio during scanning. The camera is stopped when the scanner is hidden, the app is backgrounded, or a scan succeeds. You can decline camera access and still use stored cards and scan a selected image.

Scan from image uses the system picker to read the QR image you select. MiWave does not upload the image or save it as a contact attachment. The picker may create a temporary cached copy; a cloud-only image may need to be downloaded by your photo provider first. The Android app does not request broad photo-library access.

On Android, Add to phone contacts opens your device’s create-contact form without MiWave requesting address-book read or write permissions. On iOS, contact permission is requested for the supported contact-creation flow. MiWave does not import your address book into its own database. You decide whether to save or cancel in the system form.

Scan confirmation sounds use audio playback, not microphone access. MiWave does not request microphone or location access. You can manage granted permissions in your device settings.

5. Sharing and other services

Sharing is initiated by you. A displayed QR code, exported QR image, or vCard contains the selected card’s contact details, including gender if present. QR codes and vCards are readable contact data, not encrypted messages. Anyone who scans, photographs, or receives them may retain or forward the details. Review the card and obtain any necessary permission before sharing another person’s information.

The device share sheet sends the file to the app or recipient you select. Adding a card to phone contacts creates a separate system-contact record. Your contacts provider may sync that record according to your device or account settings. Email and phone actions open the mail app or dialler with the selected address or number.

Recipients, mail and contacts providers, photo providers, operating systems, app stores, and apps you choose have their own privacy practices. MiWave does not sell contact information or automatically upload it to those services. We cannot retrieve or delete copies held by recipients or other apps.

6. Retention and deletion

Local cards and preferences are retained until you change or delete them, clear MiWave’s app data, or uninstall the app. There is no automatic expiry of saved contacts and no server copy of your card database held by Alef Digital Solutions.

To delete an individual record, open it from My Cards or Contacts, choose Delete, and confirm deletion. This removes that MiWave record. To remove all Android app data, use your device’s app settings to clear MiWave’s storage, or uninstall MiWave. On iOS, delete the app rather than merely offloading it. In the browser version, clear the MiWave site’s stored data. These actions also remove local preferences and cannot be undone through MiWave.

Native vCard and QR exports, and picker copies, may remain in app cache until overwritten, cleared by the operating system, or removed with app data. Downloads and files you save elsewhere must be deleted separately. Deleting a MiWave record does not delete phone contacts or copies shared with others. Delete system contacts through your contacts app and ask recipients to remove their copies when appropriate.

MiWave has no user accounts and no cloud deletion request to submit. We cannot remotely erase your device’s database. If you contact us for assistance, we can explain the local deletion steps.

7. Storage and security

The native contact database is stored in MiWave’s app storage, protected by the operating system’s app-access controls. MiWave does not add its own database-encryption layer or app lock. Android app backup is disabled in the current configuration. Use a device passcode, keep your device updated, and share cards carefully.

Local storage is not a backup service. Device loss, storage clearing, uninstallation, browser-data clearing, or a device failure can remove your records. Individual vCard exports are available, but MiWave does not provide automatic backup or synchronisation. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

8. Browser version and website visits

The browser version uses storage belonging to the site’s origin. Browser settings, private browsing, changing the site address, or clearing site data can affect retention. Loading a web app requires requests to its host, and some browsers may download a QR-decoder resource on first use. Hosting or resource providers can receive standard request information, such as an IP address, through those requests. This differs from the native app’s offline contact exchange.

Opening the Alef Digital Solutions website from MiWave uses your browser. Our website may use analytics and process enquiries as described in its website Privacy Policy. That website activity does not give us access to the cards stored in MiWave.

9. Support and your choices

If you email us or submit a website enquiry, we receive the information you provide, such as your email address, message, and any attachments. We use it to respond, investigate the issue, and keep necessary communication records. Email, hosting, or enquiry-service providers may process it to deliver those services. We retain support information for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the enquiry and meet applicable record-keeping or legal obligations.

Do not send your entire contact database or other people’s private details unless necessary for an issue you want us to investigate. You can request access, correction, or deletion of support information we hold by emailing [email protected]. Requests are handled subject to applicable law and any necessary legal retention. Local card information remains under your control through the app and device settings.

People of any age should share only details they are entitled to share. A parent or guardian concerned about information a child has sent to us can contact the same privacy address. We cannot remotely access information held only on a child’s device.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when MiWave’s functionality, data practices, or applicable requirements change. The effective date identifies the current version. Changes requiring additional notice or consent will be handled as required by applicable law.
